Professor Wagner received her Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Before joining the German program at ASC as Program Director in the Fall of 2007, she has taught at UMass Amherst and The Citadel in Charleston, SC. Other institutions include the Goethe Institut in Boston and Bridgewater State College.
A cultural studies
and literary historian focusing on 19th and 20th-century Germany,
her area of specialization are resistance literature to National
Socialism and thehistoric drama.
Professor Wagner
teaches all levels of German language and literature. Her
teaching interests are among others: Exile and Resistance Literature,
Poetic Realism, and Hitler in Popular Culture.
Professor Wagner strongly believes in her students and in making German language learning fun. She is also an avid supporter of study abroad programs and an interdisciplinary approach.
Outside the academic realm she enjoys spending her free time with her wonderful dog Glueck, hiking, and competitive ballroom dancing.
